Sub Divisional Government Degree College, Nauhatta, Rohtas, is a constituent unit of Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara is a prominent educational institution established in July 2019, spanning a sprawling 10-acre campus, under the leadership of Dr. Devi Prasad Tiwari, the contemporary Vice Chancellor of Veer Kunwar Singh University (VKSU), Ara. The college, situated in the peaceful and scenic environment of the Nauhatta block in Rohtas District, Bihar, acts as a vital educational centre for students from rural and underdeveloped regions. The college is located at 24.57° N, 83.82° E, with the stunning Kaimur Hills to the northwest and the Sone River flowing from the southwest to the northeast on the southeastern side. It is easily reachable via the Akbarpur-Yadunathpur Road (formerly NH-2C, now NH-119), with access by buses and autorickshaws. The campus is about 60 km from Dehri on SoneSub Division, about 80 km from Sasaram (Head quarter of the Rohtas District), 160 km from VKSU Ara, and approximately 205 km southwest of Patna, the state capital.
The college currently offers undergraduate programs in Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) with a range of subjects, including English, Geography, Economics, Hindi, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, and more, as well as Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com). There are plans to introduce Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) and postgraduate (Master's) courses in the near future. The college also aims to establish units of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS). The courses are running Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) semester system is being implemented from the session 2023-24 as per rule of the ‘New Education Policy -2020’. The college is well-equipped with essential facilities, such as a comprehensive library, free Wi-Fi, sport units with large play grounds, a canteen, and separate common rooms for girls.
